Role summary:

We are seeking a skilled Python application developer to join their Digital Pathology and Image Analysis group within the drug safety R&D department. In this role, you will support our client's mission to deliver breakthroughs that change patients' lives. You will advance the portfolio by developing and deploying Python packages that analyze large image datasets and drive decision-making / insights in drug discovery, helping to assess the potential safety risks of new drug candidates.

Role responsibilities

Build and maintain Python packages for deeplearning enabled image analysis workflows for digital pathology images.

Lead the design and implementation of automated workflows and pipelines for image preprocessing (e.g., color normalization), model training, deployment, and optimizing the end-to-end ML lifecycle.

Maintain and optimize codebase to ensure and adhere to coding best practices.

Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to streamline and enhance image analysis workflows, leveraging distributed computing frameworks to drive efficiency and performance.

Regularly present results at project team meetings and provide progress updates to relevant stakeholders.

Ability to prioritize and multitask when working on different projects.


Required skills and experience

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in a quantitative discipline
  • 2-4 years of demonstrable experience in developing/deploying deep-learning tools for digital pathology workflows such as generative AI tools, multiple instance learning, semantic and instance segmentation, etc.
  • Excellent Python and PyTorch programming skills, with knowledge of the best practices for MLOps (version control, high-performance compute infrastructure) and software engineering.
  • Passionate about developing scalable, efficient, and well-documented software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfortable working in Linux and Windows environments.

Preferred skills

  • Prior knowledge of histology, human anatomy or physiology.

1-2 years of pharmaceutical experience in a quantitative field.

Experience with SQL and relational databases
