Title: Parcel Mapping GIS Analyst

Terms: Initial 6-month contract role

Location: Atlanta area

HYBRID- 4 days a week on site is required.

Must live in Atlanta, GA and work onsite 4 days a week

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Parcel Mapping GIS Analyst to support our Geographic Information Systems (GIS) initiatives related to parcel mapping, land records management, and spatial data analysis. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining parcel datasets using GIS software, ensuring accuracy in land ownership records, legal descriptions, and cadastral mapping. This role requires strong analytical skills, knowledge of GIS applications, and the ability to collaborate with surveyors, assessors, and planning departments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Parcel Mapping & Data Maintenance:
  • Create, update, and maintain parcel maps, boundaries, and land records using GIS tools such as Esri ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar software.
  • Interpret and digitize property deeds, legal descriptions, plats, and survey documents to ensure accurate mapping.
  • Perform geospatial data analysis and quality control to maintain accurate cadastral data.
  • GIS Analysis & Support:
  • Conduct spatial analysis and geoprocessing to support land use planning, property assessments, and tax mapping.
  • Integrate parcel data with other GIS layers such as zoning, land use, flood zones, and infrastructure data.
  • Assist in developing custom GIS reports, maps, and web applications for stakeholders and public use.
  • Collaboration & Compliance:
  • Work closely with county assessors, surveyors, tax offices, and planning departments to ensure data accuracy and compliance with local/state regulations.
  • Assist in responding to public and government inquiries related to land ownership, boundaries, and mapping.
  • Ensure GIS parcel data adheres to state, county, and national GIS standards.
  • Technology & Process Improvement:
  • Utilize GPS, LiDAR, and aerial imagery to enhance parcel accuracy and mapping quality.
  • Automate workflows using Python, SQL, or ModelBuilder to improve GIS data processing and maintenance.
  • Support the integration of GIS with CAD, enterprise databases, and land management systems.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in geographic information systems (GIS), Geography, Cartography, Surveying, Urban Planning, or a related field.
  • GIS certification (e.g., GISP, Esri Technical Certification) is a plus.
  • Experience:
  • 2+ years of experience in parcel mapping, cadastral data management, or GIS analysis.
  • Experience working with government agencies, land records, or tax assessment offices is preferred.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in Esri ArcGIS (ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online), QGIS, and GIS database management.
  • Experience with parcel fabric, geodatabases, topology, and georeferencing.
  • Strong understanding of land surveying principles, legal descriptions, and property records.
  • Knowledge of SQL, Python, ModelBuilder, or other GIS automation tools is a plus.
  • Familiarity with GPS, remote sensing, and aerial imagery interpretation.
  • Soft Skills:
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to interpret complex property descriptions.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with parcel fabric datasets in ArcGIS Pro.
  • Knowledge of tax assessment, zoning regulations, and land development.
  • Familiarity with CAD software (AutoCAD, MicroStation) and its integration with GIS.
