Job description:
Must-have skills for this role:
1. Installation of IBM and ISV products, and support
2. Ops Console, Batch Monitoring
3. Root cause analysis utilizing (IMS, DB2, and operating system logs) and other problem determination sources as required.
Years of experience required for each skill: 10+.
Minimum 8 years of experience as a mainframe service management / operations console and batch management or in a similar role.
Primary Responsibilities:
Experienced in Service Management, Service Delivery, Incident Response, Problem Management, and Change Management to support a live production environment 24*7.
Installation of IBM and ISV products, and support.
Monitor batch jobs, report/resolve issues and batch scheduling changes in scheduling tool.
Prioritize critical batch job.
Manage to change request plans.
Perform batch operational tasks (Rerun, Step Restart, Hold).
Monitor consoles and dashboards for various alerts:
Prioritize critical console alerts
Remediate and report per runbook
Perform daily detailed change request review for all client submitted change requests
Participate in release planning and coordination of code and related documentation changes
Create metrics and report on status of incidents
Perform IPL/HMC operations and system maintenance
Identify & report risks to SLAs and engage stakeholders
Monitor system performance
Root cause analysis utilizing (IMS, DB2, and operating system logs) and other problem determination sources as required
Provided support for Disaster Recovery and BCP exercises
Desired fluency with ESP and CA7. Good to have experience with TWS, Control-M
Practiced hand-on ability to perform IPL via SAIOM and knowledge of HMC operations
Practical experience with mainframe products i.e., MVS, JES2, WLM, Netview, Netcool, Omegamon, Omegaview, SMF, DB2, IMS, Web Specialist, Netcool, SAIOM, and home-grown utilities
Programming (Assembler, COBOL, REXX)
Experience with release planning and management products i.e., Changeman, Endeavor, STS (Software Transmittal System), and home-grown utilities.
Nice-to-have skills:
1. Scripting language support or other i.e., Programming (Assembler, COBOL, REXX)
2. Experience with release planning and management products
