ABOUT THE ROLE
The client is seeking one (1) senior Business Data Analyst withstrong problem solving, organizational, and communication skills. This role will be expected to collaboratewith the Data Office, Business, IT and other stakeholders and play an activerole in the Data Quality Enhancement initiative. The individual is expected tobe a self-starter who is comfortable prioritizing and effectively managingtheir daily workload.
The role will be involved inenhancing data governance, ensuring data quality, and collaborating withstakeholders across departments to analyze, design and deliver data drivensolutions.
The ideal candidate hasexpertise in business data analysis, excels at communicating technicalinformation to non-technical audiences, and ability to leverage tools like SQL,Power BI, and Tableau.
Essential Duties andResponsibilities:
Workeffectively with business process owners and data owners to ensure data relatedbusiness objectives are understood and documented.
Gather,evaluate and document requirements related to data for new systems orenhancements based on business user input, technical requirements andconstraints.
Managemultiple projects, timelines, and priorities.
Supportindividual team members in the data office as well as various business units bydesigning customizable tabular or visual reports with available tools.
Data Analysis
Developinnovative data strategies for meeting business requirements, includingleveraging the capabilities of existing technology tools oracquiring/developing new technology tools.
Designdata-focused automated and manual solutions to solve business problems andachieve business objectives.
Structurelarge data sets to find usable information.
Collaboratewith various business and technology teams to collect and analyze data.
Createreports and visualizations for internal teams and stakeholders.
Performassessments, make sound recommendations, and present findings to ensure VRS isprocuring or building the most effective value-added solutions.
Createpresentations and reports based on recommendations and findings.
Preparereports, flowcharts, diagrams, detailed documentation and other writtenmaterials.
Presentfindings through various written and verbal communication channels with keyusers and agency executives.
Data Office Support
Serveas subject matter expert on Data Analytics.
Actas a liaison between the business teams and IT teams for data relatedinitiatives.
Participateand assist with the VRS Change Management Process to ensure all activities flowthrough change management (documentation, test plans, approvals, etc.).
Managerisk and provide timely status reports and project updates to stakeholders.
Provide cross-team support when needed to achieve technical goals, knowledgesharing,
AgencyPerformance Outcomes (APOs) and operational measures (OMs).
Participatein software/hardware security reviews and implements best practices for theData Office.
EstablishKPIs in coordination with business units to measure the effectiveness ofbusiness decisions.
Performspecial projects as assigned.

Required Skills andExperience
Fiveyears' experience working in data analysis, business analysis, data science,data warehousing in Pensions Benefit management, or related industry
Experienceworking in an Agile development environment.
Abilityto work independently and as part of a team that includes business andtechnical stakeholders.
Excellentproblem-solving and analytical skills.
Strongcommunication and interpersonal skills.
Desired Skills
Threeor more years' experience designing dashboards and reports using BI tools suchas, Power BI and/or Tableau.
StrongSQL skills for querying and analyzing data.
Knowledgein Excel, DAX, Python.
Softwaredevelopment background.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university preferred and 5+ years' experience with technology or data organizations required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.
This will be a contract position starting with a period of at least 6 months. To be effective, this resource would need to be available within the next 6 weeks. Client desires to interview proposed individuals before final approval.
The individual will follow the Hybrid work schedule including 2 days onsite per week (Tuesday and Wednesday). The individual may also be called to be onsite for critical meetings and data related discussions. Onsite work will be at 1200 East Main Street, Richmond, Virginia 23219
