We are seeking a full-time contractor or employee for a Senior Database Admin position.

With 8+ years of experience, this role demands a high level of expertise, judgment, and creativity. The individual will independently handle a variety of complex tasks and may lead efforts in database management. Responsibilities include designing and optimizing databases, as well as overseeing their performance and interaction with other systems.

Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and enhance database solutions for the TIERS applications portfolio.
  • Collaborate with application development teams, business stakeholders, and other partners to improve and implement new solutions.
  • Build and manage databases and applications using technologies like Java/J2EE, SOAP/REST web services, Spring, JPA, jQuery, AngularJS, IBM WebSphere, Oracle, PostgreSQL, etc.
  • Perform advanced database administration, including performance monitoring, tuning, and providing support to development teams.
  • Utilize Agile practices for backlog grooming and user story development.
  • Develop, test, and optimize databases to support new programs and business needs while improving scalability and stability.
  • Provide triage support for application and database operations, including on-call support as needed.
  • Develop and update Linux shell scripts for day-to-day tasks and process documentation.
  • Design and implement Enterprise CI/CD workflows for database automation using tools like Jenkins.
  • Develop and manage SQL and PL/SQL code, with hands-on experience in Oracle APEX tool set.

Required Skills:
  • Proven experience in implementing, administering, and managing application databases across production and non-production environments while maintaining data integrity and security.
  • Advanced skills in Oracle SQL and PL/SQL development and optimization.
  • Experience with database automation and CI/CD workflows, using tools such as Jenkins.
  • Hands-on experience with Oracle APEX development.
  • Experience in leading large-scale initiatives for performance tuning and advising developers on optimization strategies.
  • Expertise in cross-functional team support, data relationships, and performance optimization.
  • In-depth knowledge of Oracle internal views, built-in functions, architecture, and database management practices.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve complex database issues in development and production environments using Oracle 11/19c.
  • Advanced skills in monitoring and fine-tuning SQL and PL/SQL on Oracle databases, particularly on Solaris/Linux systems.
  • Experience with Oracle SQL Developer and Erwin Modeling tool for creating data models.
  • Proficiency in developing tools using SQL, PL/SQL, and Linux shell scripts for database support.
  • Hands-on experience with Agile methodology for large development projects.
