Job Summary:
Client is looking for a AS400 ISeries DB2 DBA for its Genius upgrade team with deep knowledge of current software protocols and Internet standards, including IBM iSeries systems and interfaces. In this role, you will Develop, support and troubleshoot all BRMS (Backup, Recovery and Media Services) tape backup strategies.

AD team provides a wide range of capabilities to our customers including advisory services, strategy consulting, data engineering, data management, data governance, BI and Analytics.
Responsibilities:
As a AS400 DBA your day-to-day work activities will be as follows:
- Develop, support and troubleshoot all BRMS (Backup, Recovery and Media Services) tape backup strategies.
- Perform database tuning and performance monitoring in production systems
- Provide development support in writing Structured Query Language programs and routines.
- Review and tune SQL / PL-SQL code
- Gauge the effectiveness and efficiency of existing AS/400 systems; develop and implement strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems in terms of processing performance.
- Should plan and perform capacity planning and performance tuning
- Should act as visionary and strategist for iSeries administration/troubleshooting
- Create and maintain documentation as it relates to system configuration, mapping, processes, and service records.
- Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end.
- Provide training to all AS/400 Computer Operators on all system tools.
- Perform system and application upgrades
- Make recommendations on need for new architecture, servers, system/application upgrades and software upgrades to ensure performance and reliability of database systems
Requirements:
Candidates are required to have these mandatory skills in order to get their eligibility assessed. The must have requirements are:
- 10+ years of solid experience as a fully hands-on production AS/400 ISeries DB2 DBA
- Working technical knowledge of current software protocols and Internet standards, including IBM iSeries systems and interfaces.
- Experience in high volume systems with table partitioning
- Extensive experience with core software applications, including iSeries security and Operating Systems
- Excellent hardware and software troubleshooting skills and experience on iSeries (AS/400) systems is key.
- Working technical knowledge of CL programming language.
- Should have expertise on the iSeries system, HMC and LPAR planning and implementation
- Should have expertise on iASP, iSeries Clustering support and implementations
- Hands-on experience with and working knowledge of Coded character set identifiers (CCSID)
- Expertise in trouble shooting , proactive monitoring and SQL Performance Tuning
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong attention to detail in high-pressure situations.
