VRS Data Office team is seeking a skilled SQL Data Cleanup Specialist to assist with cleansing and standardizing data across a large-scale SQL Server database.
VRS Hybrid 2 days onsite per week (Tuesday and Wednesday)
The Virginia Retirement System (VRS) Data Office team is seeking a skilled Structured Query Language (SQL) Data Cleanup Specialist to assist with cleansing and standardizing data across a large-scale SQL Server database

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist with data cleanup related to the Data Quality Enhancement initiative and other development efforts as needed. Activities include:
? Maintain the confidentiality of all business data and adhere to VRS data security policies.
? Analyze and understand the structure and relationships within the database.
? Write and execute SQL update and insert statements to clean and optimize data.
? Utilize tools and techniques to automate and expedite the data cleansing process.
? Collaborate with the data team to ensure data integrity and accuracy.
? Document the data cleanup process and provide regular progress updates.
? Special projects at the direction of the Chief Operating Officer or Data Officer.
Required Skills and Experience:
? Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in SQL Server SQL development, including writing complex queries, data manipulation statements, stored procedures, and tuning.

Education and Experience
Bachelor?s degree from a four-year college or university preferred and 5+ years? experience with database technology or data organizations required.
This will be a contract position starting with a period of 15 months. To be effective, this resource would need to be available within the next 4 weeks.
The individual will follow the VRS Hybrid work schedule including 2 days onsite per week (Tuesday and Wednesday). The individual may also be called to be onsite for critical meetings and data related discussions. Onsite work will be at the VRS central office at 1200 East Main Street, Richmond, Virginia 23219.
