Position Overview
Unicom Technologies, Inc. is seeking an experienced Java Architect to join a dynamic team in Plano, TX. This is an exciting opportunity to lead modernization efforts, transitioning applications from monolithic to microservices architecture, with a focus on scalable, event-driven solutions. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Java technologies, messaging frameworks, and API management, particularly using APIGEE.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead application modernization initiatives, including re-architecting monolithic applications into microservices and event-driven architectures.
- Design and review high-level and low-level architecture for Java-based systems in collaboration with the Enterprise Architecture team.
- Provide hands-on expertise in messaging platforms (Kafka, Camunda) and APIGEE API management.
- Align architectural strategies with business requirements by working closely with Product Owners and Technology Managers.
- Define hardware and software infrastructure requirements to support architectural goals.
- Troubleshoot design issues, identify system bottlenecks, and implement scalable solutions.
- Conduct performance validations and provide guidance on system optimization.
- Support the development team with technical architecture decisions and application integration.
- Ensure adherence to agile methodologies and participate in technical discussions across teams.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Java Architect with a strong track record in application re-architecture.
- Proficient in Java, Java Beans, Java Servlets, JavaScript, Spring Boot, Kafka, and APIGEE.
- Hands-on experience with microservices and event-driven architecture.
- Strong understanding of enterprise architecture principles and best practices.
- Experience in designing and implementing scalable, high-performance systems.
- Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Strong leadership and high-level project management capabilities.
