Job Title : Mainframe Storage Engineer
Location: Lakewood, CO, Onsite

We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Storage Engineer to join our team. This position is critical in managing and optimizing virtual tape architectures and storage management systems for high-performance environments. You will collaborate with various application teams, assist in system updates, and contribute to continuous improvements in storage architecture. Your expertise will be vital in supporting disaster recovery planning, system troubleshooting, and maintaining operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Leadership: Drive efforts to improve operational efficiency and system performance across platform environments.
- Collaboration: Serve as the technical lead, working closely with application teams, stakeholders, and other senior technical resources.
- System & Software Updates: Assist technical leads in the planning and implementation of system and software updates, ensuring smooth transitions.
- Documentation & Process Management: Create and maintain clear, detailed documentation for processes, procedures, and system configurations.
- Troubleshooting & Support: Provide daily operations support, including troubleshooting, problem isolation, and resolution for platform and application issues.
- Project Reporting: Provide regular status updates on ongoing projects and tasks, ensuring alignment with timelines and objectives.
- System Administration: Perform day-to-day system administration tasks, ensuring system stability and performance.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.
Experience:
- 7+ years of experience as a Mainframe Storage Engineer.
- 7+ years of experience with problem monitoring and engineering solutions for virtual tape architectures.
- 5+ years of experience with Dell EMC, VSM, VLE, and ZFS Virtual Tape Libraries.
- 5+ years of experience working with IBM Job Control Language (JCL).
- 4+ years of experience with CA-1 Tape Management System (TMS) and CA Vantage.
- 4+ years of experience supporting Disaster Recovery planning, testing, monitoring, and restoration for virtual tape systems.
- 3+ years of experience in designing and building Storage Management Systems (SMS).
- 2+ years of experience with Data Domain Management Center (DDMC).
- 2+ years of experience with Time Sharing Option (TSO) on mainframe systems.
- 2+ years of experience with Interactive System Productivity Facility (ISPF).
- Expertise in the Linux command-line environment.
Location Requirement:
- This position is on-site in Lakewood, CO, and the selected candidate must be willing to work in this location five days a week.
Clearance Requirement:
- Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
Core Skills & Competencies (Required):
- In-depth knowledge of z/OS and TSO.
- Experience with Data Domain and Dell EMC DLm8500 systems.
- Proficiency with ISPF and InsightIQ.
- Strong technical writing skills, with the ability to produce clear, well-structured documentation.
- Ability to gather and automate processes using Ansible playbooks.

- Proven experience in monitoring, maintaining, and resolving issues with virtual tape architectures.
- Experience with Cyber Recovery on virtual tape systems.

- Experience in federal government environments or other regulated sectors.
