Job Overview: Quality Engineer
1. High-Level Summary of Skills:
1. Ability to test data effectively that has been transformed via Extract, Transform and Load processes across multiple environments for data warehouses, data marts, fit for purpose marts and landed data.
2. Ability to validate data, UI, and non-functional requirements for Cognos reports, Tableau, and other dashboards, visualizations, and reports.
2. Qualifications:
1. Understand fundamental concepts of data warehousing and data marts and its place in an information management environment, including star schemas, subject areas, and Medallion architecture
2. Understand data structures and the ability to read and understand a Data Model
3. Understand how the testing process fits into the data development process
4. Understand source to target mapping documents.
5. Ability to develop data test strategies, solutions, test plans and test cases - what they are and how to develop them, specifically for data warehouses and decision support systems.
6. Create effective test cases and scenarios based on business and user requirements.
7. Participate in reviews of requirements, data models, data mapping documents, ETL design and ETL coding; providing feedback to product owners, designers and developers.
8. Understand relational database concepts
9. Intermediate to Advanced SQL
10. Beginner to Intermediate Python
11. Demonstrated working knowledge or experience of Power BI and Cognos tools (Analysis Studio, Query Studio and Standard Reporting)
